An evening showcasing the work of four exciting new Norwegian playwrights.
Welcome to an evening showcasing the work of four exciting new Norwegian playwrights and exploring playwright development processes in Norway and beyond. The four plays presented combine formal exuberance, playful wit and heartfelt commitment to a range of urgent personal and political concerns. Areas addressed include mental health, diaspora, identity, nationhood, sexuality, family and grief. Taken together they offer an index to the compelling issues of our time as experienced and reflected on by the emerging generation.
In addition to staged readings of scenes, the evening will include interviews and discussion, as well as the opportunity to meet the playwrights and the Unge Viken team over canapés and refreshments.
The featured playwrights are Tatiana Delaunay, Astrid Berg Hauge, Aleksander Varadian Johnsen and Mari Qviller.
6:00pm – Welcome and staged readings
7:30pm – Break for refreshments and canapés

Unge Viken Teater is a Norwegian theatre for young audiences. The theatre has a dedicated program for the development of young playwrights (16-30yo), with open writing classes and workshops as well as extended support for four emerging playwrights each year.
Presence Theatre’s passion is to explore the actor’s presence and the word-in-action in classical and modern plays and in innovative new writing, through productions, staged readings and workshops. Our long-running actors’ play reading group works with playwrights in developing scripts, and we collaborate with many international writers and companies.
This event is part of a successful ongoing three-year collaboration between Unge Viken and Presence Theatre, which has seen both virtual and in-the-room events exploring and presenting new Norwegian playwriting in and to the UK.
