Round Table and reading of play's fragments with Emerging Norwegian Playwrights
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Spain, Unge Viken Teater (NO) and Sala Beckett present a staged reading and round table reading and conversation about four new plays by young Norwegian playwrights.
What are the trends in contemporary Nordic drama? Are we still in the wave of the “Nordic Noir”, or is something even darker and more symbolic emerging? How does the new generation of Norwegian Playwrights think about the importance of text and theatre, and their own role in society?
Join us around the table for an intimate and personal experience, listening to excerpts from four plays that are still in development. We invite you to get involved in the following discussion with the playwrights and actors.
Brage Eikanger Hagen: Daughters of the Nation
A young transgender man is waiting for his life to start, as he engages in a Kafkaesque process to get gender affirming health care.
Brage Eikanger Hagen (b. 2003) is educated in Drama and Theatre at NTNU, with practical specialization in directing, and a bachelor’s thesis on site-specific devices in historical plays.
Tone Nordbye Nybø: Scooter, analogue
Two young people examine their feeling of being disconnected from life, whilst another escape into the forest to find something very different than what he’s looking for.
Tone Nordbye Nybø (b. 1998) is a theatre maker, actress and playwright educated at the École Jacques Lecoq in Paris.
Julie Hededal Bunimowicz: Lucky charm
Poetry and body horror weave together in this monologue as She tries to destroy her own self in an erotic fantasy where she may or may not be in control.
Julie Hededal Bunimowicz (b. 2000) is an actress trained at The Norwegian National Academy of Theatre (KHiO).
Erik Pelin: ReBootBoys
Drawing connections between the racially motivated murder of Benjamin Hermansen in 2001 and the radicalization of young, white men today, this play is a desperate plea for love, not hate.
Erik Pelin (b. 2001) trained as an actor at The Norwegian National Academy of Theatre (KHiO). In 2025, he also makes his debut as a singer-songwriter and a playwright.
